Case Study
The clay target career passport. A shooter's registered trap, skeet, and sporting clays record, turned into trend lines, milestones, honors, and a friendly rivalry or two.
The opportunity
Competitive clay target shooters build careers that span decades, and their governing bodies keep a remarkable record of all of it — every registered target, every classification, every season. American trap, skeet, and sporting clays are run by four different organizations, each with its own classes, seasons, and scoring language.
What no single organization can offer is the shooter’s own unified view: one place where a whole multi-discipline career reads as a story. A shooter who competes across bodies has never been able to hold up their career in one hand.
Dusted is that view. Look yourself up, and decades of scores become a passport: trend lines, yardage progression, lifetime target counts, honors, and the seasons you stepped away, told honestly.
Our approach
Dusted is built to be worth it for a shooter who is the only person they know using it. No network effects required, no waiting for friends to join, no club account, and no passwords — a member number is the connection.
One rule shapes everything: each discipline keeps its own scoring language. Percentages and yardage stay percentages and yardage, skeet averages stay per gauge, sporting punches stay punches. The unification is visual and narrative, never a fake merged metric.
Also from the studio
The clay target career passport. Dusted turns a shooter’s registered trap, skeet, and sporting clays record into a personal passport — trend lines, milestones, honors, and a friendly rivalry or two, across four governing bodies.
Under the hood
The app is SwiftUI on iPhone and iPad. Public records are fetched through a single Cloudflare Worker that acts as a controlled, courteous origin: records are looked up per shooter on demand, cached with respect for how the data actually changes, and never bulk-copied. Historical seasons are effectively immutable, so old data caches indefinitely and only the live season refreshes.
Client
SwiftUI on iPhone and iPad
Platforms
iPhone · iPad · Android planned
Backend
Cloudflare Worker, controlled origin
Data
Public records, fetched per shooter on demand
Scoring
Each body keeps its native system
Privacy
No governing-body passwords or contact data
The respect extends to people: Dusted never asks for a governing-body password and never retains the contact details some public pages expose. Member number, scores, and public competitive record — that’s the whole appetite. Even the App Store screenshots use a fully fictional cast of shooters.
What's next
Dusted is in App Store review, headed for iPhone and iPad, with Android on the way. From there: deeper season storytelling, richer honors, and growing the passport as more shooters look themselves up.
It shares a backbone with the rest of what we build: a Cloudflare-backed data layer, privacy-first defaults, and native platform craft. And a website with a playable clay range on it, because a marketing page should be at least a little fun.
We’re taking on a small number of new projects this year. Drop a note.
